Event Description

We invite artists to exhibit or perform their original pieces at our 3rd annual Creative Arts Collective on Saturday, June 29th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Eastern Shore Presbyterian Church, 320 Presbyterian Drive in Fairhope. The evening will feature a gallery of a variety of visual art mediums, musical performances and readings of poetry, spoken word and much more. Light refreshments will also be served.

Visual Art: Selected work will be exhibited June 29-July 13th, 2024. The exhibit will be unveiled at the Arts Collective Event on June 29th in the Administrative Building and will remain up until after the Sunday services on July 13th. If you are willing to have your art displayed longer, please let us know. We would love to have some art in the space for an extended period.

Performance Art: Selected work will be performed in new Administrative Building on June 29th at the Creative Arts Collective event.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many pieces may I submit?

You may submit up to 4 pieces to either perform or display. However, not all 4 pieces may be selected for the collective because of space, size, etc.

Can I just submit something I drew a long time ago?

The arts collective is meant to encourage you to open up your creativity in the present. We strongly encourage you to create something new or to submit something from the past 5 years. However, you may submit a work from earlier if you would like.

I’m not a professional artist. I just do this for fun. Is this collective for me?

All ages and skill levels are invited to participate! Don’ be scared. This is a very encouraging, loving community.

I don’t belong to Eastern Shore Presbyterian Church. Can I still submit?

Yes! Whether you attend, are a member, or just stumbled upon this collective randomly, you are welcome to submit. However, this collective should be viewed as a way to respond to God and his action in the world. Eastern Shore Presbyterian Church values artists and their God given gifts.

Can I sell my artwork?

Creating art is hard work and expensive and we understand that artists need to make a living. Feel free to leave business cards at your exhibit and your contact information on your artist statement for potential buyers to reach you outside of the gallery. Displaying price tags and collecting money during the event hours is not allowed.

How do I submit?

Registrations/submissions will be open April 15-June 15, 2024. Send pictures of each piece along with its dimensions and type of medium. You must also submit a 100 word (or less) artist statement. If you are doing a performing arts piece, you will need to submit a recording. To submit work, send the requested information in this paragraph via email to gsearcy@easternshorepca.org

I don’t know how to write an artist statement. Can I opt out?

You are not alone. A lot of people dread writing this, but I encourage you to try. This is your chance to have your voice heard and for the congregation of Eastern Shore Presbyterian to get to know you. It can be short and sweet. Some people choose to write about their specific piece, while others choose to write a bio about themselves. Both are acceptable. Reach out to George at gsearcy@easternshorepca.org if you need help.

When will I know which of my pieces will be exhibited?

You will get an email within a week of your submission letting you know that your submission was received. If you don’t receive an email within a week, please contact gsearcy@easternshorepca.org to make sure your submission was received. A follow up email will be sent to all registrants the last week of June to let you know which pieces will be exhibited.

I won’t be in town the evening of the event. Can I still exhibit?

You do not have to be present to exhibit your work. However, all artwork must be set up the day before the event (June 28th) and stay up until 12:30 p.m. on July 14th.  No early tear down is allowed.

When do I drop off my artwork?

You may drop off your artwork at the church office, 320 Presbyterian Drive, Fairhope, AL, anytime between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. beginning Monday, June 24th to Thursday, June 27th. Artwork may be picked up between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 14th after church or the week of July 15th during regular office hours (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday). If you can’t be present, make sure to arrange to have a trusted friend or family member be in charge of setting up and tearing down unless you have arranged with George Searcy to keep your artwork displayed for an extended period.
